Following today’s orientation, they settle in tomorrow to a packed schedule of seminars, courses, and project work that will cross editorial, production, industry dynamics, management, marketing, digital media, and more.

A big welcome to the incoming MPub class of 2010/2011!
We oriented the new group this morning, and then lunched them in the usual fashion. From the looks of it, we have a very smart, on-the-ball, and social group this year.
The numbers are up this year; we have 21 regular MPub students, plus two visiting scholars from China for the fall. In addition, we’ve got two doctoral students with us full time as of today. It’s a big group, with lots of energy.
So join me in welcoming the new crew, and wishing them lots of luck in theirs courses, projects, and journeys to come this year!
Cheers!
– JMax

MEDIA RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ● April 28, 2010 ● Vancouver
13th Anniversary Poetry in Transit Contest
Vancouver. The Association of Book Publishers of BC launches their annual Poetry in Transit project April 28, 2010 with a contest.
This much-loved project has been running since 1996 and in that time has featured 190 poems from established and emerging writers. In partnership with TransLink and BC Transit, the ABPBC produces sixteen poetry cards annually featuring the work of BC-authored and Canadian-published poets. The cards are displayed on buses and SkyTrains throughout the transit systems in BC.
To celebrate the April 28th launch of this year’s Poetry in Transit, the ABPBC will be hosting a contest! Did you meet your soul mate while reading a poem together on the bus? Have you gotten into a heated argument with a fellow passenger over a line in a poem? Tell us your best Poetry in Transit story to be in contention to win the grand prize – all 16 books of poetry from this year’s poets.
Submissions must be sent to the ABPBC by email to admin@books.bc.ca with Poetry in Transit in the subject line. Mailed submissions to go to 600-402 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1T6. First and second runners-up will receive a selection of this year’s bus cards. Winning entries will be published on the ABPBC website for posterity.
Contest deadline: May 31, [...]
